And the Karmic Wheel Goes Round and Round, Round and Round!

Picture a wheel! From the center you can see multiple spokes going out, the outer rim is perfectly round and the points along the outer rim are equidistant from the center hub.

Now, imagine that the center point represents your soul in its totality beyond the parts you have played in any lifetime and the points on the outer rim are all the lifetimes that you have lived on planet earth. The different lives are like costumes you put on in order to learn through different experiences. All these characters you have played served a purpose. If we zoom in we can see the time you played the monk and we can see the time when you took on the form of the corrupt businessman. We see the life when your physical beauty dazzled and we also see the time when nobody wanted to be around you because you were disfigured.

We observe you as a world class athlete as well as the time when you could barely put one foot in front of the other as you make your way to an unknown destination in an endless trail of war refugees.
All these lifetimes are equally important to the soul’s evolution. When we reach a state of enlightenment, we will be centered in the middle of the wheel and the importance of the costumes will fade and we will walk away from all the lessons lived as wiser, more compassionate souls.
Until we get to that place, most of us become over identified with the outside of the wheel because we favor certain parts over others.

Some of us love to play the spiritual parts including the monks, the yogis, the prophets, the healers, the preachers etc. We are less concerned with worldly possessions and favor spiritual power to worldly power. When we have to play parts that are very physical or where we all of a sudden have to deal with a lot of material abundance and worldly power, we will be severely uncomfortable and try to get back to a role where we feel more identified. During these times, our consciousness and ego are hanging on to the outside of the karmic wheel, which keeps going round and round.
We subject ourselves to a lot of suffering because we are required to take part in all of the classrooms sooner or later.
An enlightened being is capable of playing any designated role in an enlightened manner. There is no character that is always “bad”, au contraire; all parts have an enlightened version available.

Other souls are more engrossed with worldly power and fame. These souls can get so hooked onto playing kings and queens, the richest person in the land or being famous inventors and artists that they develop soul addictions. Every time they are not in the desired position they will suffer tremendously and do anything to get their next fix. Souls that suffer from what I call a “Royal Complex” will want to turn everyone in their environment into personal servants or have them play a part in their entourage.

No matter where you fall on the spectrum, sooner or later we all need to learn to surrender and to return to the center of our karmic wheel (unless you are still enjoying the roller coaster, of course).
Determine for yourself which roles and parts on the earth game you value above all else. Then look at the ones that you feel are the most meaningless because these are important to integrate as well. We need to make peace with all aspects of ourselves in order to make our way back to the center of our karmic wheel.

Remember, there are no small or insignificant parts only in our perception.
Meditate on things you have learned in moments that seemed less important and embrace all experiences you have ever had.
Because the karmic wheel goes round and round and it is up to you if you are spinning on the outside rim or if you are resting well balanced in the center!

How to Detect and Manage Energetic Soul Pain!

When you look at a person, you are dealing with a complexly interconnected system where you will find a lot more data than meets the eye.
To simplify the discussion, let’s break it down into the physical body, the emotional body, the mental body and the energetic body.
All the bodies interact with each other. When one gets hurt the others will most likely be effected, yet depending on the nature of the injury and the pain, it is not always easy to determine what is happening and what tools are needed to remedy the situation.

When your physical body is sick or gets hurt you have tangible proof for the severity of pain you are in and it is likely that your fellow travelers will show a fair amount of compassion and will offer their support in order for you to heal.
If you break your legs and you are in a wheelchair, no one will expect you to run a marathon with them.

If you go through a divorce, a death in the family or the loss of your job and you are grieving and heartbroken, you know why you are in pain and suffering. You have something to share with the world that explains your emotional and mental state and it is possible to get the necessary help and support to facilitate healing. If you don’t quite act like yourself for a while you will most likely be given the space and the understanding to regain your balance.

If you were drugged or had an allergic reaction to a bee sting and you are mentally out of it for a while, you are not going to be expected to finish the report, show up for the final or pick-up the kids from school. Again, it will be very evident that you are not in a position to do so.

In our current human circumstances, pain of the soul or energetic body isn’t as evident or equally recognized on a collective, social level, yet the suffering can be similarly debilitating.
Before I go into further details, let’s talk a bit more about the energetic body.

Imagine that you’re watching a cartoon. All the energies are visible in color. If somebody’s energetic body is healthy there is a bright, multicolored orb around their physical body, at least a couple feet in all directions. I call that a healthy energetic immune system.
Now, imagine that the immune system is compromised and that it has cracks. Through these cracks slimy, toxic energy creeps in and the system is thrown out of balance.
Since the whole human runs on electricity and energy, it is just a matter of time until the other bodies will exhibit symptoms.
The physical body might react with a migraine headache, the emotional body could feel depressed and the mental body, not quite comprehending what is happening can fall into an obsessive mantra of self-judgment.
“What’s wrong with you? It’s such a beautiful day, you have a great job, a family that loves you and all you do is complain. You have no reason to feel depressed. You should feel grateful. Why aren’t you happy? You’re a horrible person…and on and on and on.”

Does any of this sound familiar?

I encounter this a lot in sessions. People don’t give themselves credit for their energetic and/or soul pain. Our society isn’t equipped to support people on that level and so we not only run into our own internal judges but are also confronted with the impatience and harsh judgments of our environment.
Depending on how chronic and severe the pain is, insult is continuously added to injury and many years can go by, where we don’t even look for a cure because we are so convinced that there’s nothing wrong in the first place. If unaddressed, the symptoms and suffering tends to get more intense as time goes by.
The first step to take in order to break this vicious cycle is to acknowledge that you are indeed hurt and that you will set out on a quest to figure out what it is and what it’ll take to get yourself well.

Here are some indicators that you are suffering from energetic/soul pain:
1. Your emotional symptoms are not making any sense.
2. You don’t feel comfortable in your own skin.
3. No matter how much you clean, your environment seems dirty.
4. You experience reoccurring deep-seated emotions that are way disproportionate to the circumstances at hand.
5. You feel pressure in your head at odd moments.
6. You have physical, phantom symptoms, yet all of your medical tests show that your physical body is completely healthy.
7. You are suffering from debilitating nightmares that are not connected to any real life drama
8. You have strong knee jerk reactions in your behavior and you feel really guilty for it because you are not able to show up as the person you know you can be.

These are just some of many indicators that your soul body primarily fuels the source of the disturbance.

If that is the case, my advice is the following:
1. Have compassion with self and others and know that indeed something is amiss and the source of the disturbance can be fixed and healed.
2. There are two main reasons the energetic body hurts:
a) There is an unresolved past life trauma.
b) The energetic body has to deal with an invasion of disharmonious energies.
3. Find modalities that assist you in energy clearing i.e. Tai Chi, certain forms of meditation, chanting, smudging, use the “Clearing Protocol” (other post in my blog), Kundalini Yoga to name a few or find yourself a skilled practitioner to assist you.
Determine what compromised your protection so that you can fix long-standing imbalances and strengthen your energetic immune system.
4. Consider exploring your karmic history via hypnosis, your own intuition or a skilled practitioner. Understanding what you are dealing with is half the battle towards healing it.

Even though energetic pain isn’t a mainstream term yet, we still have to deal with it.
As old souls, it is sometimes the only surface indicator that we have karmic homework to do.
It is time for you to show up for you and to be on your own team.
Remember, at the end of the day everything about you makes sense. Part of the journey is to put the pieces back together like a highly sophisticated detective story.

Are You Waiting For Your Big Life To Live Life Big?

Truth is most of us have fantasies of what we want life to look like.
For some of us it comes in the form of picturing our dream home, a luxury car, a big professional platform, unlimited financial resources, a marriage to our soul mate, a trophy partner, an award winning bestseller or reaching a state of enlightenment.

Whatever your desired stage setting looks like my question to you is this:
How would you live your life differently if you had the perfect life?
I came up with this post observing some of my favorite clients as they are desperately waiting for their BIG life to happen. However, while they are waiting, they are on cruise control and are not living their lives to the fullest potential.

I N T E R E S T I N G! I said to myself. Here are these fabulous people with all this old soul wisdom not stepping up to the plate because they are throwing little hissy fits that the Universe is not outwardly manifesting their grandness.
Mmmm, I thought to myself scratching my head, I see a pattern here.
I wonder what the lesson is…

Maybe, just maybe, it is time to let go of the ego expectations and be BIG and live your life in its full capacity even though, seemingly nobody of importance is watching. Why? Because we all have to learn to participate, to apply ourselves from the heart without being concerned with how big the gains will be.
Mastering that lesson might lead you faster to your goal or you might find that you are so fulfilled that you really don’t care anymore.

Either way, I am rooting for you because I think you are truly fabulous and I hope that your seemingly small world will get to benefit from your greatness.

Put Down the Cross; Someone Else Needs the Wood!

Martyrdom is very popular with old souls. And really, who can blame them.
It is one of the most celebrated archetypes in history and one that rarely gets criticized because at the end of the day, who doesn’t like to have a self-sacrificial person around them willing to pick up the slack?

It is nice to be loved and wanted on this planet especially since the percentage of pain caused by isolation and rejection runs fairly high. So yes, let’s sign up for martyrdom. Add a few centuries of religious dogma that instructs us that it is better to give than to receive plus a bleeding heart complex where the internal need to help can only be satisfied if we assist to carry our fellow traveler’s pain and suffering. And voilá, you have a perfect concoction of being weighed down by the burden of so many crosses, that you have lost count.

Now, if this resonates for you, let me ask you this:

Aren’t you tired yet?
Have you started feeling resentful and underappreciated?
Do you feel heavy, sluggish and tired?
Is it hard to get out of bed in the morning?
Do you feel like you are trapped in a version of spiritual “Groundhog Day”?
Have you come to the conclusion that martyrdom isn’t as cool as it used to be?
Are you annoyed that the people around you have stopped evolving and keep coming to you with the same issues?
Have you finally reached the point where you feel that self deserves a vacation?

If you’ve answered yes to any or all of the above questions, it might be time to put down the cross(es) and leave the classroom of martyrdom behind. It was fun while it lasted but on your journey to enlightenment, there are other classrooms to enter.
Let’s aim for a more balanced life where you teach people how to fish instead of feeding them fish. You won’t turn into a self-centered, greedy person; you will just refuse to carry other’s burdens. The good news is two fold.
You will feel lighter plus you’ll have the time and energy to focus on your own homework and you will learn to lead by example.
You will force the people around you to learn their own lessons, which will allow them to be more independent.

So, are you ready?

If so, meditate and envision yourself surrendering all the burdens and crosses you have been carrying to Divine Source. Let them be transmuted by the Violet Transmuting Flame. Repeat until they are all gone. And of course, be free to improvise and add your own techniques.
Martyrdom can be addictive. Depending on your level of attachment you might have to work through a twelve step program and join MA (Martyrs Anonymous ;-)).

The biggest pitfalls I noticed in my own journey were:
a) I didn’t know what to do with the freed up energy and I had to redirect it first before I felt inclined to carry other people’s stuff again.
b) I felt guilty for feeling well while others were still suffering. In the meantime, I have gained the awareness that I can actually be of greater assistance when I am healthy and doing well.

You may or may not be ready to change this aspect of yourself. My advice:
Quit while you are ahead. Sooner or later one does become resentful for having to suffer for other soul’s karma and in the big picture that is not the way it is meant to be!
So, put down the cross and remember nothing is ever lost, so be sure the wood will be recycled and end up somewhere as a beautiful antique or a nice warming bonfire and you will be free to join in the dance of life once again.
