The Purpose Behind Really “Crappy” Experiences on Planet Earth!

I like to refer to life on planet earth as spiritual boot camp. Sure, there are a gazillion wonderful and blissful moments that we get to live during our epic journey, but when the going gets tough, boy can it get rough. Just thinking of all the loved ones lost, the plagues, the famines, the wars, the betrayal, the heartbreak, the guilt, the fear to name a few; phew, I get tired just thinking about it. Especially the experiences that our souls label as unforgivable or the ones that come with a loss you feel that you’ll never recover from. The big question her is: how can I reframe my earthly experiences in a way that allows me to heal and to move on?

Let’s look at earth as a school. Each lifetime, souls can sign up for a human avatar (the human body) that gets left behind at the end of each experience.
If you look at the soul reality, all souls end up being OK and we never truly get separated from loved ones. Each personality and character we play is like a role in a movie where the soul actor gets to have certain experiences. At the end of each life it’s a wrap and eventually we get to learn the lessons we came here to learn.

Life on this planet is experienced in a force field of duality. Everything has it’s polar opposite: shadow and light, good and evil, male and female, hot and cold, yin and yang etc. If you took the energetic elevator a few floors up, you’d end up in the realm of divine neutrality, where the polarized energies are harmonized once more.
If as a soul, you have existed and experienced yourself in very light dimensions (other than planet earth), where you have light on light and love on love, there are certain frequencies that you can’t learn and develop. In order to experience and exercise forgiveness, compassion, stamina and unconditional love i.e., we all need the conflict and the shadow as well as things going “wrong” to learn the meaning of these frequencies.

Some souls tend to feel a bit superior to other soul species before they come to planet earth. The human avatar allows us to equalize the playing field to a degree to fully absorb the experiences we sign up for. The amnesia does the rest. We are fully in character, and if we kill someone, we actually believe that they are dead. What really happens is that we kicked them out of their costume, like a character being killed off on Soap Opera. They just start to audition for a new part, the very next week.
We all have killed and been killed in this game numerous times and we have received new avatars for our next assignments. If you are having a hard time letting go of certain events in your soul’s past, remind yourself what the lessons were you wanted to learn. This is another opportunity to learn patience, forgiveness, and compassion on your journey to evolve as a soul. There is nothing that is ultimately unforgivable.

Be open to shine some light into the seemingly dark and “crappy” corners of your soul’s history. Nothing ever happens in vain and with the ability to transmute our own experiences, we become more able to assist others on their path. We can evolve from our gigantic, self-loathing pity-parties to healed, compassionate and wise versions of ourselves. If you are reading this, it might just be your time to take this next step!

Sometimes we get so wrapped up in our routines that we forget to appreciate the beauty all around us.

Commit Random Acts of Kindness I: Don’t Overwhelm Younger Souls With The Wisdom It Took You Centuries To Gain!

How much patience and compassion do you have for your fellow travelers? Do you ever find yourself saying things like: “I would never do that”, or “ I just don’t understand why he/she doesn’t fix it; I already told them how to”, or “ the issue that they are dealing with is really not that hard, it should have been fixed ages ago”, or “my intuition showed me clearly that it’s all their stuff and has nothing to do with me”.

Do people ever reflect back to you that you are harsh, given unsolicited feedback, that you are being arrogant, that you overwhelm people or that you get snappy and impatient when your advice and wisdom isn’t put to proper use?

If any of this sound familiar (and please for everyone’s sake, let’s be brutally honest here), it might be time to ease up a bit on the world around you! Life on planet earth is challenging and it takes thousands of years to learn certain lessons. If you, as an old soul, have mastered certain lessons, good for you! Now please, check your past life records and remind yourself that you didn’t get there overnight. In fact, look at the areas of your life that you are currently struggling with and see how much time and energy you have already spent into “fixing” it. Imagine some enlightened master coming along and telling you to get over it. How loved would that make you feel? Would you experience that kind of approach as supportive and constructive?
I know that I wouldn’t!

We all desire to be seen and met, where we are at in our evolution.
Picture a kid in school. When that kid enters first grade he/she will be excited to learn the alphabet, if you come along and demand an essay on Shakespeare and get impatient, the kid might be discouraged to even learn how to read and write because he/she will experience himself/herself as a failure. If the same kid gets taught the skills with love and patience he/she will want to excel and feel good about himself/herself and in a few years he/she will be able to write the essay.

A music student who is tone deaf will not become a concert pianist. Would you yell at him/her because you happen to have a perfect pitch?

In these examples, it is very obvious what we can expect from a fellow human being.
However, the stages of soul evolution aren’t always as apparent.
A person playing the part of your boss, your parent, your older sibling might all be in truth much younger souls who have a lot less earthly life experience.

Gauge the person’s soul age instead of getting confused by their physical appearance.
When you find yourself saying: “ She is my mother, she should know better”, or
“I am twenty years younger, I shouldn’t have to explain this over and over”. Think again!
If you find you are annoyed and losing your patience, it is a wonderful opportunity to work on compassion and to become a kinder more effective spiritual mentor.
Treat others the way you would want to be treated if you came across a more evolved being than yourself.

Gauge others evolutionary capacities and meet them exactly where they are.
You will be amazed at what a difference this can make and how much more open younger souls will be to actually listen to what you have to say!

Develop The Courage To Choose Love Over Fear!

Most of us carry a fair amount of unresolved trauma in regards to love relationships.
The way we have loved in the past has left us heartbroken when the person of our affection died or abandoned us.
Why?
Because we tend to give parts of our heart away and we attach our future expectations, our happiness, our fulfillment and our completeness to the loved one. We give up our vertical alignment that keeps us firmly rooted in Divine source and replace it with a horizontal alignment firmly rooted in our love relationship. When the space between you and the other person gets altered, it is natural that we not only lose our balance, but also part of ourselves. These kinds of break-ups are so painful that it leaves the system in a state of shock and trauma. If the wound isn’t properly treated, it doesn’t fully heal. Imagine a broken bone that wasn’t properly set into place when it grew back together, it can deprive you of regaining the full range of motion of your arm or leg. Now add a few centuries of losses and break-ups to the mix; the heart becomes more and more distorted, closed down and our natural response is a fear of love and closeness.

We develop all kinds of coping mechanisms that make us leave people before they have a chance to leave us. We avoid souls that we fear could play a major part in our lives. We sabotage relationships, push people away and create drama, especially in the early stages of a new relationship, just to avoid another train wreck.
This kind of behavior is understandable, of course, but may I point out, you are choosing fear over love. It’s a free-will Universe, so you can continue to choose from that place of fear and trauma as long as you like. Or, you can choose to start the healing process for your heart and find the courage to choose love again.

Here are a few pointers:
1. Instead of giving parts of yourself away when you love, imagine your heart as a vessel that love flows through. As it flows through you, you get replenished. The divine realms freely give love to you and it’s your job to learn how to freely love others. (Also read post “How do you Love?”)

2. Heal your past trauma! How? There are many different avenues. Remind yourself that every relationship experience is a classroom designed to bring you a step closer towards enlightenment and an ability to stand on your own with proper vertical alignment. Figure out your soul’s lessons within traumatic experiences.
It’s harder to heal when we hold onto the notion that love isn’t safe.

3. All the souls you have ever loved and those who have loved you are never truly lost to you. Allow yourself to connect to them via meditation.  Use your heart chakra as a starting place. Sit quietly and ask your spiritual guides and Divine Source to allow you to feel/be shown all the soul connections that are still alive.

4. Get your soul pieces back! The heart as vessel needs to be complete in order to function properly. If too many pieces are missing, we tend to be more needy and flowing energy and love through our heart will have a spaghetti strainer effect. Sometimes we miss the parts of ourselves lost more than we actually miss the person or the relationship. Check out the post “Clearing Manual” to learn how to ask for soul pieces back.

5. Learn to distinguish between true love and obsessive emotions. A lot of times, I find that people call all kinds of strong emotions love.  Really check if you love the person or if you are looking to control and own them. If you truly love, you will have their best interest at heart, which means you will be able to love them with an open palm policy. Allow people around you to be free. If you are meant to be and stay in a relationship with them, it will happen.

6. Remember: Every production on planet earth will ultimately be a wrap! Even if you meet the right person and share 50 great years together, one of you will most likely die first. Making peace with loss, which is a part of life, allows us to choose love over fear! You don’t want to shut out one of your favorite souls just because they died on you in a past life, do you?

7. A new love will defrost parts of the heart that haven’t been healed or lived in for a while. That’s what makes powerful, new relationships scary and often prompts us to withdraw. Sooner or later these parts will have to be healed. Don’t blame the soul you love because they play the part of  the catalyst for the defrost you are going through and the discomfort that you’re feeling. Instead put things in perspective, look at this situation as an opportunity and remind yourself that they’re just old wounds ready to be healed that spike your fear and discomfort. In case of doubt, get yourself professional help before you sabotage another relationship!

One thing I know is that ultimately we all live to love and be loved. The sooner you find the courage to heal and to choose love over fear, the more fulfilling the journey will be!
